Data Lake

The business's own data lake with a built-in lakehouse.

Business Office application Beta Version 0.1.0 MIT

About

The business's own data lake with a built-in lakehouse: spreadsheets people upload, files and outside databases read on a schedule, and extracts of the other applications' data through the kernel — landed as received, typed and checked against a contract, owned and certified. A catalog to find every dataset with its owner, meaning, freshness, quality and lineage; classifications, masks and row filters to protect it, with every read audited and an erasure that proves itself; a SQL editor, saved and verified queries, metrics and an ask window whose answers show their SQL. Built on open formats and embeddable libraries (DuckLake on PostgreSQL, Parquet, DuckDB) — no data platform adopted.

This is an application of the MaluDB Business OS. It runs on your office's server, not on a desktop. People open it from the OS launcher after a super-admin grants them access; on an enrolled MaluOS Desktop it also appears in the MaluApps window as a launcher.

Install

On a MaluDB Business OS server

  1. Sign in to the OS as a super-admin and note the domain the kernel serves.
  2. sudo git clone https://github.com/maludb/maludb-os-datalake /srv/apps/datalake
  3. php /var/www/bin/app_install.php plan /srv/apps/datalake --by <super-admin email> --domain <domain>
  4. Read the plan. It is read-only and lists the database, virtual host, services and agent the installer will create.
  5. sudo php /var/www/bin/app_install.php apply /srv/apps/datalake --by <super-admin email> --domain <domain>
  6. The application appears in the launcher for everyone who is granted access, and its expert agent is hired in Agent HR.
