About

Malu123 is an open-source, native spreadsheet that works the way Excel users expect. It opens and saves .xlsx workbooks and CSV/TSV files, has hundreds of worksheet functions with dynamic arrays, LET and LAMBDA, charts, pivot tables, conditional formatting, printing and PDF export.

Every ribbon button is also a command reachable over MCP, a CLI and a JSON control channel, so AI agents can drive the workbook you have open. Malu123 adds an assistant that reads the open workbook and acts on it through those same commands, with local-first model access through the MaluOS gateway and vault. The package includes malu123-cli, a headless evaluator, converter and command runner.

Install

On MaluOS Desktop

1. Malu123 is part of the desktop image. If it is missing, open MaluApps from the dock, or:
2. sudo apt install malu123

On Ubuntu 26.04

1. Add the MaluOS repository once:
2. curl -fsSL https://apt.maluos.com/bootstrap/install-maluos.sh | sudo bash
3. sudo apt install malu123
4. Runtime needs libxkbcommon0 and libvulkan1 or libegl1.

Not on MaluOS? Add the repository first: curl -fsSL https://apt.maluos.com/bootstrap/install-maluos.sh | sudo bash. Packages are signed with the MaluOS archive key; how to verify.
